Linda Lizzo started at CDS Monarch in October of 2012 as a part-time aquatic fitness instructor. In 2011, she accepted a full-time position as a recreation coordinator where she is responsible for coordinating recreation and activities for the individuals, enhancing the program to make it "fun and exciting," Linda said. "We want to be able to give them really good experiences so they can grow socially and they can also enhance their skills going out into the community." Linda said they help the individuals learn things like cooking and playing sports.
"Linda’s compassion and interest in the lives of the individuals and families we serve in recreation shows through every day," Activities Manager Ajaleah Bobowski said. "She ensures that the individuals wants and needs are addressed in their program, making sure that the activities and events she schedules are what the participants want and like to do. She has a wonderful relationship with the families we work with and goes above and beyond to make sure that program is successful and meaningful for everyone."
Linda said her favorite part of working at CDS Monarch is "working directly with the individuals. I love working with them and making them feel good about themselves; enhancing their lives. I think that's the best part of my job. We're here to make them better, and I think they make us better. We recognize the things they need and have a stronger appreciation for, and that makes us better people."
In terms of advice for staff, Linda said, "We all need to be better at what we do every day and focus on the goals of our company. We as staff need to give more and be improving ourselves and our programs, which I think everyone does across the board." Linda said she believes there's always more we can do for the individuals.
In her spare time, Linda enjoys things related to the arts, such as dance and theater. She has a daughter who is an entertainer at Disney, and Linda also enjoys reading.
Thank you, Linda, for your hard work and dedication!
