It is a big honor for a local organization that helps veterans returning from war. CDS Monarch President and CEO received the “Above and Beyond” award from the New York State Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve.

The award recognizes local employers who go beyond the requirements they have to provide to their employees, who are in the National Guard or Army Reserves.

The state committee says CDS Monarch is doing that through its Warrior Salute program, which helps veterans with PTSD and traumatic brain injury regain their lives.

Sankar Sewnauth, CDS Monarch President/CEO, said, “They sacrificed their life, whether it is Afghanistan, Iraq or anywhere else in the world. They had to be away from their families, their children, and they had to see things none of us would ever have to see in our lives. When they come back home, the singular focus all of us should have is to how we help that veteran to get back into their community and be productive citizens.”

Warrior Salute provides therapy, employment and temporary housing for veterans in the program.
