An organization that helps children with development disabilities and veterans is mourning the loss of one of its founders.

News10NBC is told CDS Monarch co-founder Phyllis Wolf passed away in September. Wolf and her late husband created the organization back in 1977 to give their son Daryl, and other children with developmental disabilities, a better opportunity at life. Since then, thousands of people have benefited from the program. We're told Wolf served on the organization's board of directors for 35 years.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Pittsford Presbyterian Church in her honor.
